This week’s speaker is Prof. Piyush Sharma speaking on Multicultural Readiness Instrument (MRI): A tool to measure, benchmark and improve multicultural readiness of Australian services sector
In this talk, Professor Sharma would introduce his ongoing research with his colleague Associate Professor Russel Kingshott and their PhD student Dr Zahra Daneshfar, on the unique challenges and opportunities offered by the growing multicultural nature of the Australian society and workplaces for the Australian services sector. Specifically, he would discuss a multidimensional conceptual framework used by them to conceptualise multicultural readiness at both individual and organisational levels. Next, he would describe how they developed a self-report questionnaire to measure this construct and share the findings from a large-scale survey with about 2000 participants from multicultural organisations across diverse categories in the Australian services sector. He would also discuss the implications of their findings for the Australian service organisations and future applications of their MRI tool, including a couple of recently successful ARC grant applications.
